It has been rumbling for quite a good time on the stock markets. Trump throws around one after the other rates around and the end does not seem to be in sight for the time being. Trump has already set rates of 54 percent (at the time of writing) on ​​imported articles from China.

The annoying thing is that China is one of the largest suppliers for Apple. Analysts think that this can lead to a price increase of 43 percent for Apple’s iPhone. It may have a lot of influence on the price that you will pay for the iPhone.

Is it therefore smart to buy an iPhone now? Probably. If you are now looking for a new iPhone and you have the money for it, then it is not a bad idea not to wait too long. An iPhone 16 Pro currently costs € 1,015, and if the rates actually continue, it will only be more.

If Apple completely passes on the rates to the consumer, then you would even pay 43 percent more. An iPhone 16 Pro currently costs 1229 euros at Apple. If the price then rises by 43 percent, you will reach a final amount of 1757.47 euros.

Apple will probably not implement the price increase with the iPhone 16 series. If there is actually a price increase, Apple will probably only do this at the iPhone 17.

Trump rates: many things still unknown

It is of course also possible that Trump (eventually) stops the rates. Another option is that Apple manages to arrange some exception. But nothing is certain at the moment and you can’t assume that it will happen at the moment. It can also go the other way, so that the rates get even higher and with that buying an iPhone is no longer an option.

Apple has recently moved part of their production to other countries, such as Vietnam, India, Thailand and more. But these locations have also been put on the rates list by Trump.

What the rates influence the prices and whether you should buy an iPhone now always remains a bit of guis work. But one thing is almost certain: it doesn’t seem that the prices remain the same for a long time.
