Does your Apple Watch go empty too quickly? Then it is advisable to switch off a function of Watchos. This feature is about!
Apple Watch empty too quickly
Do you wear your Apple Watch daily, but the battery of the smartwatch is empty too quickly and you don’t get the end of the day? Then there is a good chance that this will be due to a function of Watchos. At the Apple Watch Series 5, Apple introduced the ‘Always on’ function. This feature is enabled by default on the Apple Watch Series 5 and Nieuwerer, including the Apple Watch Ultra (2). With the Apple Watch se, the Always-on screen is missing.
With the ‘Always on’ function, the screen of the Apple Watch – as the name suggests – always remains active. For example, it is always possible to read the time of the display, without lifting your wrist or tapping the display. Unfortunately, this function also has a disadvantage, because the Apple Watch consumes more energy when the screen is on continuously. Does your Apple Watch go out too quickly? Then it is wise to switch off ‘always on’. That’s how you do it!

Always switch off
Do you have an Apple Watch Series 5 or newer? Then the ‘Always on’ function is switched on on your smartwatch. Turning off the feature is an easy way to save on the battery of your Apple Watch if it empties too quickly. You adjust the function with the Settings of the Smartwatch. The expansion of the always-on screen is there as follows:
- Open ‘settings’ on your Apple Watch;
- Tap ‘screen and brightness’;
- Choose ‘Always on’;
- Turn off the switch ‘Always on’.
Turning off ‘Always on’ ensures that the Display of the Apple Watch is not active as standard. Only when lifting your wrist or touching the screen, the display lights up. This is an easy way to prevent your Apple Watch from emptying much too quickly. The same applies to the iPhone, you can also disable the function to save on the battery. Read here how you do that.

More about the Apple Watch
Unfortunately, the release of the Always-on screen also has a disadvantage, because the time is no longer continuously visible on your Apple Watch. Do you want that, but still save on the battery of the smartwatch? Then go to ‘Settings> screen and brightness> Always on’ on your Apple Watch. Under ‘Toon complication data’, ‘Show live activities’, ‘Show reports’ and ‘Show apps’ you decide which information is shown on the Always-on display.
This way you can set that time remains visible, but other data such as apps, notifications and live activities are hidden on the Always-on screen. In this way the Apple Watch still consumes less energy, while ‘always on’ is switched on. Did you find this tip handy and do you want to know more about your Apple devices?
