In Dream Daddy you start by making your own father. You get a lot of freedom in that. For example, it is quite possible to imitate your own appearance. Together with your daughter Amanda you then move to a new neighborhood full of nice fathers. Like Hugo, your daughter’s teacher, music fan Mat or Brian and his corgi.
However, the most important relationship in the game is with your daughter. This young woman is about to go to college and that is a big change in your life. The move also creates additional uncertainty. Fortunately, Amanda knows how to enjoy herself in the new place. Now you have to believe in it.
That’s why you go on dates. You choose every day which father to date. You do this via the social network Dadbook. Each father can be dated twice, after which you make the choice for that man with a third date. These dates mainly consist of still screens with dialogues in which you make choices. The game is beautifully drawn and the dialogues are often very funny.
Superficial, but beautiful
It is especially nice that during the dates you often get a very different picture of the fathers than your first impression. Did you finally make your choice and choose the right options during the conversations? Then this story may end in a kiss and a sexy photo. Not every father is open to a relationship. If it doesn’t work, you can go back for another storyline and a better ending.
Dream Daddy is a light-hearted game full of humor. You will not see any explicit content. It never goes beyond an eggplant emoji. It is striking that any reference to sex or the sexual identity of the characters is avoided. This leaves the game a bit on the surface and that’s a shame.
Where the game shines are the stories. Especially when they focus on the relationship with your daughter. Between the infinite stream on dad jokes so a tear may roll down your cheek when you don’t expect it, but that too is fatherhood.
