E-Legend could count on a considerable amount of appreciation with the EL1, an Audi Sport Quattro inspired blood-fast electric tearing monster. There are more such tributes in the barrel!
Germany’s E-Legend lives up to its name with the EL1 and plans to bolster that by reincarnating even more legends electrically. That explains chief designer and chairman Marcus Holzinger in conversation with the British coach. E-Legend previously announced that two more models would appear on this basis after the EL1, but now Holzinger makes it clear that those cars are also inspired by legendary Group B rally cars.
Which models we can expect, the German will keep a secret for a while. We secretly dream of a modern take on the Lancia Rally 037 and Peugeot 205 T16, or perhaps the Renault 5 Maxi Turbo. Holzinger does hint that his personal favorites are the Ford RS200 and Lancia’s Delta and 037, so they seem to have an above-average chance.
In any case, one thing is certain: those retro bangers are also getting bizarrely fast. E-Legend takes – not surprisingly – the technical basis of the EL1 also as a basis for the novices. So you can count on two electric motors that together churn out 816 horsepower, of course four-wheel drive and a 0-100 km/h time of under 3 seconds. Holzinger does say that adjustments to the powertrain may be made to make it fit better with the car in question.
Just like with the EL1, 30 copies of the most likely EL2 and EL3 named creations will also be made. You just have to cough up about 9 tons to get one. You also have to be patient until at least 2023.
Which Group B cars do you hope E-Legend chooses?
