You copy files from your desktop to your laptop or USB stick, so you can edit them on the go. Once back at home or at the office, you want to have the same, up-to-date data on both devices. PureSync ensures that you can synchronize without any problems.
Step 1
Download PureSync from www.puresync.net/editions and install the tool. We’ll stick with the features of the free Personal edition here. You want to fast at the first start Settings, Language, Dutch Selecting. There are four task types available for you. We choose here New sync, but also New backup is a possibility.
Step 2
A dialog box will appear in which you can choose from various synchronization types on two tabs. We just select here Synchronize folders. After your confirmation with Next one pops up a duplicate file browser. On the left you refer to one folder and on the right to another.
Step 3
Notice the option at the bottom Synchronize subfolders on. Let Folder depth set to 0 to include all subfolders. For example, enter here 1 in, only the first-degree folders are included, but not the deeper sub-folders. Press Next one and enter a job name. Preferably you click on first Compareso that a simulation shows you what exactly happens when you press Synchronize clicks.
Step 4
Before doing the above, open up first Settings. It contains numerous options, divided over various sections. A few examples. Through Filter you can only include files with specific extensions or of a certain size. In the section Conflicts you indicate what PureSync should do with possible problem situations, for example if a file in both folders has been changed. In the section Automatically sync set your times for a scheduled sync.
