First impression

Just a little while and BMW will present us with the new BMW i5, the first electric 5-series. However, the first image of that car is now online!
After the BMW 7 Series, the BMW 5 Series is the second ‘classic’ BMW model to become fully electric. Very soon we’d get to see the new BMW i5 for the first time, but now BMW’s latest electric feat is leaking all over the internet, courtesy of Instagram user @liucunyi_starandcar. Although; a single promotional plate escaped prematurely from Munich, showing the car at an angle from the front. We know from the text on the image that it is the fully electric i5, and not the ‘regular’ 5-series. However, assume that it will look almost completely the same.
BMW i5
As we already knew, the new BMW i5 will have an LED strip-lined grille – just like the i7 and XM – with a shape that is also reminiscent of the grille of the two top models mentioned. On the side of the car we see recessed handles as we know them from more and more recent BMW models. Furthermore, the tranquility of the interplay of lines is striking on the side. The doors are quite ‘flat’, where the previous generation 5-series had a pronounced line at the height of the handles.
With the headlights, this time different from the i7 and XM, little striking happens. They appear to be fairly similar in overall shape to those of the new 3 Series, where the higher-positioned BMW models now sport two-piece headlights. Despite this, the front of the car is relatively vertical, with a reasonably straight bonnet running at right angles to it, whereas the previous 5 Series had a sloping bonnet at the front. In addition, it seems that the butt is also proportionally shorter, as is the case with the i7.
The BMW i5 will make its debut next week and we’ll tell you all about it.
