Cadillac Escalade IQ

A Cadillac Escalade at the charging station sounds like a vegan at McDonalds, but in 2023 American behemoths that previously only had large eight-cylinder engines will also have a fully electric equivalent. So is the Cadillac Escalade. It has Cadillac Escalade IQ and will make its debut this year.

Anyone who thought that Cadillac was still only building archaic battleships probably lost sight of the brand years ago. After all, in addition to a set of relatively compact SUVs and crossovers, Cadillac already has the electric Lyriq in its range and will eventually also come with an electric top sedan: the Celestiq. The brand still produces a wide range of sedans such as the CT4, CT5 and CT6 and the opulent Escalade is still a major pillar within the Cadillac range. Cadillac once supplied a hybrid version of the third-generation Escalade, but the fifth and current sixth generation have to do without any form of electrification. That probably won’t change, but there will still be a fully electric Cadillac Escalade. And fast too. What’s up with that?

Cadillac Escalade

The current Cadillac Escalade gets the electric Escalade IQ next to it.

The current generation Cadillac Escalade with its V8 petrol engines can just go for a few more years. Just as the EQS is the electric alternative to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the Escalade will have an electric equivalent in the form of the Escalade IQ. Like the Lyriq and Celestiq – and cars like the Silverado EV, GMC Hummer EV and – yes – Honda Prologue – it will probably be on a variant of General Motors’ Ultium platform.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ will make its public debut in New York on August 9. It will be built at GM’s Factory Zero plant in Detroit. In a teaser video that Cadillac is releasing of the model, we see the car getting an illuminated Cadillac badge, illuminated grille and Cadillac signature vertical LED lighting on both sides of the front.

Spyshots electric SUV Cadillac

Cadillac: new electric SUV.

Are there more electric Caddies in the barrel? Certainly. For example, our spy photographer in the United States recently came across a packed test model of an electric SUV from Cadillac, possibly an electric alternative to the XT6 (photos 6, 7 and 8).
