Electric Kia EV6 in pictures

Kia will be pulling the curtain on a completely new electric model this month. The new electric Kia goes by the name EV6 and is the first EV of the brand to be placed on the E-GMP platform.

Kia will fire no fewer than seven new fully electric models on the car land between now and 2027. One of them will be a car that you should roughly see as Kia’s equivalent of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, although Kia folds its own carriage around the model. Kia now shares for the first time a series of teasers of that new EV, a car of which the name is now also known: EV6.

The Kia EV6 is the first Kia to feature on the modular E-GMP platform specially developed by the Hyunadai Group for electric models. The model not only has a completely new platform for Kia, the design of the car is also completely new. It seems largely inspired by that of the Futuron Concept of 2019, although influences from the Imagine Concept can also be observed.

If the technology of the Kia EV6 corresponds to some extent with that of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, then that promises a lot for Kia’s new EV. After all, the Ioniq 5 is not only available with a 58 kWh battery pack, but also with a variant with a capacity of 72.6 kWh. Both battery packs can be combined with rear and all-wheel drive powertrains. The entry-level model of the Ioniq 5 is a 170 hp and 350 Nm strong rear wheel drive that is already in 8.5 counts at 100 km / h. The top version is a 306 hp and 605 Nm four-wheel drive that requires only 5.2 counts for the 0-100 sprint. The Ioniq 5 has a range of up to 480 kilometers.

Model name EV6 of course indicates that Kia is using a new naming strategy for its upcoming electric models. All new EVs from the brand will have ‘EV’ in their name, followed by a number indicating their placement in the Kia range. Kia says it will pull the curtain off the EV6 in the first quarter of this month. Incidentally, Genesis is also coming with a car of Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6 format, as could be deduced earlier from these spyshots.
