Less grip, less money
Until now, the electric Lexus RZ was only available as the RZ 450e. The Lexus RZ 300e will soon be added to this. Unlike the RZ 450e, the new engine version does not have four-wheel drive, but only front-wheel drive.
The Lexus RZ 450e recently became considerably cheaper. The starting price dropped by €5,000 and depending on the chosen version, the 313 hp four-wheel drive even became less expensive by up to €7,000. The Lexus RZ 450 squeezes up to 440 kilometers from its 71.4 kWh battery pack. The Lexus RZ 450e will receive the RZ 300e later this year. It has front-wheel drive and therefore less power, but thanks to its lower weight it can go further on a full battery pack.
The Lexus RZ 300e only has a 204 hp and 266 Nm strong electric motor and is therefore a front-wheel drive. This machine, which also drives the front wheels in the RZ 450e, helps the RZ 300e reach a speed of 100 km/h from a standstill in exactly eight seconds. The Lexus RZ 300e with 18-inch wheels has a range of 480 kilometers to its name. With an RZ 300e on 20-inch wheels you have to settle for a range of 432 kilometers. For comparison: the four-wheel drive Lexus RZ 450e travels 440 and 407 kilometers successively on 18- and 20-inch wheels.
The Lexus RZ 300e will come to the Netherlands in the third quarter of this year. Prices will follow in March. The Lexus RZ 450e is available from €61,995 and we expect the starting price of the RZ 300e to be at least several thousand euros below that.
