Electric Maserati GranTurismo Folgore ready for debut

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore, the first all-electric Maserati, is ready for its official debut. On Twitter, Maserati is already warming up by sharing a photo of the uncamouflaged front of the GranTurismo Folgore. It shows some details that were difficult to see before.

It is not the first time that Maserati has released pictures of the electric GranTurismo. The brand previously showed photos of a camouflaged prototype on which the end result was already broadly visible. However, on Maserati’s new Twitter photo, some details that were previously difficult to see stand out. For example, the bonnet of the GranTurismo has two large slits on either side that start at the front and gradually merge into the bonnet towards the rear. In the center of the hood, Maserati stuck a really huge trident that has the colors of the Italian flag on the top. That’s how you attract attention.

The GranTurismo Folgore doesn’t follow a distinct EV route, as it gets a traditional grille and air intakes on either side of the front bumper, just like its petrol brother. However, the two variants seem to differ from each other at a detailed level. The GranTurismo Folgore has eight double vertical bars in the grille, with a honeycomb pattern behind it. The photos of the camouflaged combustion engine prototype show six vertical bars, which also appear thinner than those of the Folgore. Also, the air intakes in the front bumper of the Folgore are smaller than those of the petrol model, which will require more air to keep a cool head.

Maserati is currently touring California with the uncamouflaged GranTurismo Folgore. An official announcement is expected to follow shortly. ‘Monterey Car Week’, a major American car event that is currently taking place in the same state, seems to be the perfect opportunity for that.
