Porsche announced in its annual report more about the arrival of two new electric models. We already knew they were coming, but now it is also known when we can expect the electric Macan and the Taycan Cross Turismo.
Porsche has released a 102-page annual report online in which it releases, among other things, that 2022 is the year that we can expect a completely new Porsche Macan. In February last year, Porsche already reported that the all-new Macan will only be available with electric powertrains and that will make it, next to the Taycan, the second member of the Porsche family that is only available as an EV. The new Macan will be on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), a base that is therefore new than the J1 platform on which the Taycan is placed.
That brings us to the Taycan, because there is also news about that electric Porsche. With the Mission E Cross Turismo, Porsche already announced that it would expand the Taycan family with a second model. Porsche now confirms that this variant will be presented at the end of this year, it is a car that Porsche designates as the Taycan Cross Turismo. It is striking that Porsche describes the car as the first derivative to be added to the Taycan family.
That confirms our suspicions that the Cross Turismo will not see the only new variant of the Taycan. In previous spy photos we have seen the Taycan Cross Turismo, complete things such as plastic wheel arch edges and a slightly larger ground clearance, but also a Turismo variant that was not provided with that external frills. We therefore expect that Porsche will eventually also come with a Taycan Sport Turismo, the non-Cross version.
