Electric, SUV and without accent aigu
Renault is preparing to present a very important newcomer: the new Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric. The name, which became known on MPVs with combustion engines, returns in a slightly different form on an electric SUV.
The electric news at Renault has been dominated for a while by the retro Renault 5, but that is not the only electric newcomer. The brand new Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric will appear even earlier. To be precise next Monday, September 4, Renault now announces. It will not be a direct successor to the last Renault Scénic, because in addition to the electric drive there are more striking differences. It is an SUV instead of an MPV (how could it be otherwise these days) and Renault now writes the name Scenic without an acute accent above the e. As with its smaller brother, the Megane E-Tech Electric.
Renault presents a dark teaser photo of the front of the new Scenic, but secretly it has long been known what it will look like. Renault already presented the pretty production-ready Scenic Vision in May 2022 and came out with the H1st Vision based on it in June of this year. Last month it was time for the real work and the production version – albeit still in a special camouflage suit – came into full view. The Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric is quite similar to the Megane E-Tech in terms of design, only with slightly sharper folds and, of course, a more robust body overall. The lighting is somewhat similar to that of the also brand new Renault Rafale.
The Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric, like its smaller brother, is on the CMF-EV platform, so count on a similar choice in terms of powertrains. That would mean that the range starts with a 130 hp version, which may immediately receive the larger 60 kWh battery. The strongest powertrain in the Megane has an output of 220 hp and the maximum driving range logically goes towards 500 km. We’ll know more on Monday!
