Enable Mail notifications and equipped with sound on iPhone or iPad

If you set up an iPhone or iPad for the first time, you may notice that you will not receive any notifications for mail. This is also the case when you add a new mail account to your iDevice.

This is because Apple thinks that Mail users would rather not be informed of a new e-mail immediately and would rather view this when they have the time. Of course a great thought, but this means that you have to enable the notifications and sounds for mail manually.

Mail notifications

  • Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  • Navigate to ‘reports’
  • Search for ‘mail’ in the list and open this
  • Call in the ‘Allow notifications’ option
  • If necessary, tap your account in the list

Now switch on the desired notifications so that you can choose to place the notification on the access screen, in the Message Center and to have them displayed as a strip when it comes in.

Set up noise for notifications Mail

Via Settings â–¸ Notifications â–¸ Mail â–¸ Account â–¸ Sounds it is possible to adjust the sound for mail. By default this is on ‘no’; By choosing a notification tone, this will ensure that your iPhone will vibrate and make a sound resound when you receive a new mail.
