End of chaos in iPhone factory China: production resumed soon

After several chaotic months, production has resumed at the largest iPhone factory in the world. But what does this mean for iPhone 14 delivery times?

Chaos in major iPhone factory Zhengzhou

Foxconn, the world’s largest iPhone manufacturer in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou, has been in the news a lot in recent weeks. The factory had been suffering for some time from the extremely strict corona measures in China and the factory even had to be completely locked. At the time, Apple already warned about longer iPhone 14 Pro delivery times.

This lockdown led to poor living conditions for employees at the Foxconn factory. This, in combination with the non-payment of a promised bonus, caused riots among the employees of the Apple manufacturer. So the situation went from bad to worse in the most important iPhone factory in the world.

iPhone factory resumes production: has calm been restored?

At the end of November, the lockdown was lifted in the huge Chinese city, allowing residents to move freely again. However, many Foxconn employees have left, so the factory is now recruiting new employees. This will hopefully resume production at the iPhone factory soon.

In any case, it seems that peace has returned to the factory. Foxconn has indicated that it will pay the promised bonuses to employees and production will no longer be hindered by the corona measures.

The manufacturer has indicated that production will probably be fully resumed at the end of December or the beginning of January. But what does this mean for iPhone 14 Pro delivery times?

iPhone 14 Pro delivery times up to three weeks

You guessed it: these delivery times have now risen sharply. The latest reports tell us that production in November was about a third lower than planned. This sharply reduced production will most likely lead to a shortage of 6 million iPhone 14 Pro (Max) devices.

So it will take some time before these shortages are completely eliminated, even now that production is resumed in the iPhone factory. If you order an iPhone 14 Pro from Apple today, you will not receive the smartphone until December 29. Foxconn aims to clear these backlogs by early 2023.
