‘Error lets non-Tesla drivers use Supercharger for free’

EV drivers pay attention: you don’t have a Tesla, but would you like to use such a famous Tesla Supercharger? Then this is your chance, because due to a possible error they can (temporarily) also be used by non-Teslas. With the icing on the cake: free!

Tweakers reports that rumors are circulating about a possible error in Tesla’s Supercharger V3 charging stations. Owners of various electric cars report that they have recently been able to charge their non-Tesla for free at the special charging stations. The Dutch Tweaker Hacy also tried it with a charger in the Netherlands and managed to charge his car for free. Interestingly enough, the fault is only with the V3 versions of the Supercharger.

The specific chargers are the first ones to load via CCS. Tesla previously used Type 2 chargers. The American giant only placed the first Supercharger V3 in the Netherlands last summer. The peak power of these charging stations is a lot higher at 250 kW. As a result, a Tesla is already full within 40 minutes (80-90 percent). It previously took an hour. Normally, the charging station ‘communicates’ with the car via the CCS cable and there is a link with the Tesla account. Somewhere in that connection is most likely the error now that everyone can use the chargers free of charge.

Tesla has not yet commented on the possible error. It probably won’t take long before Tesla has solved the problems and the Superchargers only charge Teslas (paid) again.

On this map all Dutch Superchargers can be seen.
