It is now no surprise, but even in October fewer company cars were sold in the European Union than in the same month last year.
New commercial vehicle sales in the European Union also fell in October, according to figures from the European automotive industry association ACEA. According to the ACEA, total sales fell 16.4 percent to 144,409 units compared to a year ago. Delivery vans and buses in particular were sold less, but trucks were also less popular. The four largest EU car markets Germany, France, Spain and Italy saw declines. In the Netherlands, on the other hand, there was a plus of more than 5 percent in October.
The fact that sales are still disappointing in general is mainly due to chip shortages in the car industry, which means that fewer new cars are available. Lower sales were also seen in previous months. In the first ten months of this year, sales in the EU increased by almost 15 percent to almost 1.6 million commercial vehicles. A year earlier, sales were hit hard by the corona pandemic.
