Toyota takes the Yaris to an even higher level. With the GR Yaris, the Japanese manufacturer already has a real bomb in its hands, but that version gets an even more intense performance. Exclusive spy photos show that extra fierce GR Yaris in almost production-ready form.

Toyota surprised friend and foe with the GR Yaris. The generally unexciting image of the previous model ranges was compensated for in the fourth generation with a crazy version that seemed to come straight from WRC racing. The GR Yaris developed by Toyota Gazoo Racing has a sniffed 1.6 three-cylinder under the hood that distributes no less than 261 hp over all four wheels. That it can be even more intense is apparent from these new photos of an even more exuberant variant of the GR Yaris that appears to be in the final test phase.

We were able to show you pictures of an extra wrought-up version of the GR Yaris twice before. In fact, twice, judging by the license plate, it was even the same car. We see that test model again in these photos, but now in apparently production-ready form. This is how the car has its so-called canards on the front bumper, additional aerodynamic spoiler work. We also see not only apparently widened and openwork front screens, but also a black element for the rear wheel. At the top of the rear, a rear spoiler determines the image, which is considerably larger than that of the original. The taillights, which were taped on earlier test specimens, have now been stripped of camouflaged stickers.

We would like to pay attention to the special light metal under this test model. Those wheels seem to be inspired by the wheels of the TS050 and GR010 racers, with which Toyota won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Speaking of Le Mans, we have heard from a reliable source that none other than Argentine Le Mans winner José Maria Lopez interfered with the test drives of this superlative of the GR Yaris. Exciting!
