The Facebook Messenger Games were already limited available at the end of last year, but now all users can get started. At least, the feature will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks. To play, press the plus sign at the bottom of the screen during a call. In the new menu you can choose to send your location, a video clip or gifs. If you press the small gamepad, you start a game. You have to choose between a limited number of games the first time, but after that you can choose from almost fifty games.
This broad rollout also includes the new features, which Facebook unveiled at its last F8 conference. For example, game makers can offer more complex games and create bots to talk to. Developers still need to take advantage of these features before we can get started with them ourselves. The most important addition is that it will be possible to play turn-based games. This means that you take turns one after the other in a game of chess or Wordfeud. At this point, the games are still made to compete for the highest score. The new version of Words With Friends is the first to support turn-based gameplay, but we don’t see this game in the app yet.
