Are you curious about what fast charging and slow charging do to your iPhone’s battery in the long term? This loading test gives you the answer.
Fast charging on the iPhone
There are all kinds of opinions about the long-term consequences of fast charging and slow charging of your iPhone for the battery life. But what is really true about it? That’s exactly what YouTube channel HTX Studio wondered. The outcome of a six-month battery test provides a definitive answer to this.

Using six iPhone 12 models, HTX Studio has set up a system to repeatedly drain the batteries to five percent and then recharge them to 100 percent. Three iPhones were charged quickly, the other three were charged slowly. Another set of iPhones underwent the same test, except that charging started at 30 percent and then stopped at 80 percent. These iPhones therefore always remained within that range. Watch HTX Studio’s video below:
These are the results
Before the experiment, the capacity of each iPhone was tested. After 500 cycles the capacity was tested again. The results show that fast charging your iPhone causes a minimal amount of additional battery drain. They also show that keeping an iPhone between 30 and 80 percent charged is only slightly beneficial.
HTX Studio therefore concluded that there is not really a best way to charge an iPhone. It’s not really worth thinking much about charging, because at best it only provides a little bit of extra battery life. So it’s best to charge your iPhone the way you like it most.
In the same video see also tests with Android devices. If you are curious about those results, it is definitely worth watching the video in its entirety.
