Fastned is about to build its first nine fast charging stations along the French motorways. The company won the tender from the French motorway and toll road operator APPR, for the development and operation of the charging stations. We still have to wait for approval by the French Ministry of Transport.
Fastned currently has 129 fast charging stations in the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom and Belgium. The contract with APRR allows Fastned to build large fast charging stations at locations directly along the Paris to Lyon motorway, on the route to Switzerland and around Dijon.
Construction of the fast charging stations is planned for 2021, after which Fastned will be able to operate the stations for fourteen years. Each location must have a charging station where up to sixteen vehicles can be charged simultaneously. Financial details of the engagement were not provided.
