The first Fiat Tipo stands out in its rarity. As fast as they came, most Tipo’s disappeared as quickly. It was quite a success for Fiat and yet according to our data there are less than 200 left in the Netherlands today. That while a total of just over 30,000 pieces went over the Dutch counter. We take our top hat off to the private seller of this Tipo, because he’s done a lot of work. The Tipo in question has had a pretty quiet life with a mileage of just over 54,000 km and yet there was plenty to refurbish. We conclude from the advertisement text that the Tipo has been given a whole range of new parts, the body has had an anti-rust treatment and almost the entire chassis has been tackled. Judging by the photos, it is also a very handsome specimen, so the result is undoubtedly there.
The passion is admirable when you put so much time and money into a car that has actually sunk into the collective memory. It is also not a profitable project, because although the asking price of €4,500 is not tender, according to the provider, almost €5,000 has been invested in it. If you are not a fan then … It is also a Tipo that, apart from its condition, is not necessarily very special. ‘Just’ a 1.4 DGT, which was only one step higher in the range than the entry-level. The letters DGT indicate that it is a Tipo with the special digital instruments. In the dashboard, largely drawn with a ruler, everything is displayed digitally. From speed to coolant temperature, from time to rpm. There are also two lights that indicate whether or not you are driving economically.

The Fiat Tipo was particularly convincing with its large interior space, but less so with its lines and build quality. Those last two things ensured that the Tipo disappeared from the streets relatively quickly and nowadays it is a lot of searching to find another one. You won’t find a copy like this any time soon. Undoubtedly, there are also Tipo enthusiasts, so after such an investment and a relatively high asking price, the seller will be diligently looking for it. We are happy to lend him a hand, because this Tipo deserves a warm new home, right?
