From zero to four

The Fiat 500 currently comes from Poland, but will soon also see the light of day in Algeria. That is not the only car that Fiat wants to build in the country. To make everything possible, Fiat is going to set up a factory in Algeria.
The electric Fiat 500e comes from Turin, but its older sister model 500 Hybrid sees the light of day in Poland. However, that mild hybrid 500 will soon have a second country of birth: Algeria. Fiat has announced that it will build a factory in Algeria where the first copies of the non-electric Fiat 500 will run off the line from the end of this year.
By 2026, the factory’s annual production capacity should be 90,000 cars. Those 90,000 copies are not necessarily 500s. Fiat says that it will also build the Dobló in Algeria and that there will even be a completely new model that is still being worked on. Ultimately, four models must be built in Algeria. Fiat will not only build cars in Algeria, it also wants to enter the local market. It is already doing so in the relatively short term with the 500 HJybrid and Doblò, but also with the Tipo, 500X and with commercial vehicles Ducato and Scudo.
