Poor Henrik
It was already in the air, but now it is official: Fisker Inc. Filed for bankruptcy. This is the second time for Henrik Fisker that this bitter pill has to be swallowed.
Fisker Inc. is also equally active in Europe with the Ocean, while the brand has already announced the affordable Pear and pick-up Alaska. Fisker’s products all look good and an Ocean certainly has some special advantages, but unfortunately Fisker has not managed to go through the deep, expensive valley that every new car manufacturer has to go through. After all, before many cars are sold, those cars must first be developed, introduced and built and a sales network must be set up, and then the money quickly runs out.
For a while it seemed that Fisker would be saved by being taken over by an established car manufacturer, but that party did not happen either. When the Oceans were subsequently offered at a discount of tens of thousands of euros, things did not look good for the stubborn brand. We now know via Reuters that the bankruptcy application has been submitted. Founder Henrik Fisker has to watch for the second time how a car manufacturer he invented goes bankrupt and is once again bankrupt, after this happened ten years earlier with Fisker Automotive, the company behind the Fisker Karma.
Fisker has built about 10,000 cars by 2023, but only delivered 4,700, according to Reuters. The fact that the EV transition has weakened somewhat in recent months and the sentiment surrounding the electric car is subject to change has undoubtedly not helped the company.
