Whether you organize a barbecue in your garden, build a house party or go to work on the drink: a good speaker with some catchy tunes is a must. But just find a speaker that comes out above all the tetter. And if you’ve already found it, you often have to get a heal with a reel to get the thing working, and you drag an accident. The Teufel Rockster Neo must be the solution for this. The power to blow away the entire neighborhood, but without all the awkward traits or from big party speakers. That sounds good. But does it sound good too?

The rock star Neo has about the buddy ‘big suitcase’ and could be allowed to come as a holder luggage with his 17.4 kg. You can put it in just about any possible way. Up, on his side, on the other side, on his back: everywhere there are rubber legs that hold the speaker firmly in every orientation. It also doesn’t matter where you put it down: it has an integrated and easily replaceable battery that lasts no less than 36 hours. In the energy-saving eco mode you even get 56 hours out.

On both sides you will find considerable tools for dragging the speaker, and the weight also allows this if you don’t have to cover too long distances. Yet the NEO would be a lot more practical and better for your back with a set of small wheels and an extendable handle – a missed opportunity for such a booty thing.

Just pop

Even the switch -on noise is already shaking, and that is a harbinger. The NEO has a hefty woofer with a diameter of 30 centimeters, and a 35mm tweeter. The two together not only ensure a sound pressure of up to 130 decibels – that is Drilboorn level – but also for a balanced sound that is even maintained with high volumes. Although you don’t really have to boost the speaker: during a drink in the open air with about seventy people, we didn’t have to put it harder than 30 percent to get well above the cackle.

For those who find music via Bluetooth (or a wired music player) a bit too tame for a party, you will find a panel with two XLR inputs at the back of the Neo. Connect a microphone for Karaoke, an instrument for live music, or a whole mixer or DJ table for really fierce parties: the NEO can be used very flexibly in that regard.

It may be clear that the NEO is a successful party speaker. But there is no one thing for the purists: stereo sound. Now you can link two Neos to each other, but in terms of budget and towing, that is a bit too much for many people. A slightly different design with two tweeters who stand out for a left/right signal, as we know from Teufel’s more compact speakers, had not been a bad idea in that regard. There is room for the NEO 2!

The Teufel Rockster Neo makes every party a success. It sounds loudly without getting muddy, has handy XLR connections for connecting microphones, instruments and music players, and lasts for tens of hours without hanging on the power. A set of wheels for lugging would have been welcome – especially if you have to drag two for stereo sound.
