More than 700 km
The Fisker Ocean is taking quite a long run-up before finally going on sale this year, but that run-up doesn’t seem to be in vain. The Fisker Ocean Extreme, the top version, promises to be quite impressive in terms of driving range. Fisker says it was also surprised by the WLTP measurement.
Although SUVs are not the most efficient electric cars, there are already quite a few electric SUVs that still have a very impressive range. Think for example of the Tesla’s Model X and Model Y, but also of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and BMW iX. However, those reach toppers are being surpassed by the Fisker Ocean, as it now appears. Fisker has received the official WLTP measurement results of the Fisker Ocean Extreme (the top version) and it kicks up to no less than 707 km with a full battery. That is 77 km more than Fisker previously estimated. “This result is a huge milestone for everyone at Fisker and we are delighted that the driving range exceeds our initial calculations,” said CEO and founder Henrik Fisker.
The Fisker Ocean Extreme draws its power from an as yet unspecified ‘Hyper Range’ battery and can also top up power with solar panels in the roof. The Extreme has two electric motors and four-wheel drive and spears from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.9 seconds. A step lower in the range is the also four-wheel drive and almost equally fast Ultra. It does not yet have an official WLTP range, but with the Hyper Range battery it will probably also come close to the 700 km driving range. At the bottom of the range comes the Sport, with front-wheel drive and probably around 500 km driving range. The Fisker Ocean can now be ordered from our eastern neighbours, among others. As an Extreme it costs at least €74,417 in Germany, the Ultra is available from €63,947 and the Sport €43,547. Fisker is reportedly also coming to the Netherlands this year.
