Euro NCAP, the European arm of the Global NCAP safety institute, has put the Polestar 2 electric and the Cupra Formentor through a series of crash and safety tests. Both models return home with five stars. There is also good news for the Renault Arkana and Lexus UX 300e.
The electric Polestar 2 takes the maximum achievable rating of five Euro NCAP stars. In terms of safety for adult occupants, the Swedish EV scores 92 percent of the points. Safety for children was increased by 89 percent. Pedestrian safety was rated at 80 percent and in terms of safety systems, the Polestar 2 scored a very neat 86 percent.
Cupra can also be satisfied. The Cupra Formentor, like the Polestar 2, achieves five Euro NCAP stars. The safety for adult occupants is assessed with 93 percent of the achievable points, that of children with 88 percent. Euro NCAP assesses pedestrian safety with 68 percent of the achievable points. In terms of safety systems, the Cupra Formentor scores 80 percent.
Euro NCAP also rams the Lexus UX 300e and the Renault Arkana into the wall, but classifies them in the 2019 results. The UX 300e is the electric version of the Lexus UX that was destroyed that year. The UX 300e also scores five NCAP stars. Euro NCAP also links the results of the Renault Arkana to those of the Captur, tested in 2019, with which it shares its basis. The Arkana also has five stars behind its name.
