Facebook is rolling out some updates to the way you watch videos on Facebook through the app. You may already know some of these functions because Facebook has tested them extensively. Now all users will be able to use it. However, it will not make everyone happy.

First the bad news: if you scroll through Facebook, the app will automatically start playing the sound of the videos. This sound is not thrown in directly, but comes on gently and fades away again. Facebook claims to have received good feedback on this function during testing. Fortunately, you also get the option to turn off the sound. Both by muting your device and by completely turning off this automatic sound in the settings of the app. Next, you have to tap on the video to hear the sound.

Better news is that vertical videos are easier to watch. As soon as a vertical video comes into view, it will take up the entire screen. Once you continue scrolling, the video will return to its old format. The latest new feature is that you get the option to minimize a video and then scroll through. The video will then continue to play in a corner of your screen while you continue reading.
