We still have to wait for the Bronco Raptor, but Ford is already coming up with a version that dashes past the upcoming extra playful Bronco left and right. This is the Ford Bronco DR, a fun machine of which only a handful will be built.
The Ford Bronco DR is a true sand racer, something that is already incorporated into its name. The letters DR stand for Desert Racer. The Bronco DR is therefore a fierce racing version of the Bronco, a non-street-legal variant of which Ford will initially only produce 50 copies.
All those 50 Bronco’s DR have the 5.0 V8 under the hood that is also in the base in the Mustang GT. The eight-cylinder is more than 400 hp strong and tied to a ten-speed automatic. Ford will not release detailed specifications until later, but the car has in any case a fierce off-road chassis complete with more than 55 percent longer suspension travel than the original. The Bronco DR stands on 37-inch off-road rubber from BFGoodrich and is of course equipped with the necessary safety features, such as a roll cage. The carriage of the off-road colossus is made entirely of fiberglass. You should miss things like a beautifully finished interior, air conditioning and even windows. It is all very reminiscent of the Ford Bronco R Concept that was presented in 2019 before the introduction of the production Bronco.
The Bronco DR will be seen in competition for the first time next year during the Score Baja 1000 in Mexico. Do you want one? Then count on a starting price of about €215,000 excluding taxes.
