Ford Bronco Wildland Fire Rig concept provides help with forest fires

Ford joins forces with outdoor brand Filson and comes up with the Bronco Fire Rig concept. A Bronco that is equipped with the necessary firefighter equipment. The Bronco Fire Rig is functional; Ford donates two copies to firefighters to help fight forest fires.

The Fire Rig concept is primarily intended as a tribute to the firefighters who helped fight forest fires. These have more than ever gripped the United States this year. Ford has teamed up with outdoor clothing manufacturer Filson for the Bronco Fire Rig, which has contributed in particular to the fire-resistant materials in the interior. Incidentally, the Bronco is no stranger to the US Forest Service. In the past, the Bronco was already used by the agency to reach inhospitable areas. Ford is donating two copies of the Bronco Fire Rig to firefighters, it is not known whether more copies are planned.

The adjustments to the exterior are clear. The four-door Bronco Badlands is taken as a starting point. It is equipped with a bullbar with a winch and a robust-looking luggage rack with an LED bar is mounted on the roof. The off-roader is painted in ‘Forest Service Green’ and stands on the large all-terrain tires that are normally included in the Sasquatch package. Furthermore, all necessary fire-fighting equipment can be found on board, including a 180-liter water tank and a high-pressure cleaner to extinguish the fire effectively. Ford does not mention which engine can be found under the hood of the Bronco Fire Rig. Obviously, however, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 310 horsepower was used for the fire brigade version.
