Ford Fiesta out of production in 2023

Like many other brands, Ford also has a strong grasp of the electro flavor. By 2026, the brand has announced three new electric passenger cars and four new electric commercial vehicles. We are already familiar with one of those new electric commercial vehicles in the form of the E-Transit. An electric Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom will follow in 2023, a new electric Transit and Tourneo Courier will follow in 2024. One of Ford’s new electric passenger cars will be an electrically powered version of the Puma that is planned for 2024. A year earlier, Ford introduced a new electric medium-sized crossover with five seats and a sportier electric crossover is also planned. In Ford’s future plans, at least in Europe, there is little or no room for cars with an internal combustion engine, which is likely to have major consequences for the Focus and Fiesta.

Ford Fiesta (1976)

The English AutoCar writes that Ford will soon announce that it will cease production of the Fiesta in the middle of next year. It is quite possible that Ford sees an adequate replacement of the model in the electric Puma. However, it cannot be ruled out that Ford will later return the Fiesta name to a new electric model, although nothing is officially known about this. However, given the 46-year and certainly not fruitless history of the Fiesta line, that would be a logical step. From 2030, Ford only wants to sell electric passenger cars in Europe. Ford currently produces the Fiesta in Cologne. Cologne will be Ford’s European EV center, so it’s no surprise that Fiesta production is disappearing there.

Measured from 1983, the Fiesta is the best-selling Ford car after the Escort in the Netherlands. The same may apply to the Focus as to the Fiesta. Will there be a successor, will Ford permanently delete the model name? The future will show that, the Dutch importer was not available for comment at the time of writing.
