With its 280 hp drivetrain, the Ford Focus ST is by no means a wallflower. With the RS version of the Focus still missing, the English Ford enthusiasts of Mountune have come up with an intermediate form.
Early last year, Ford introduced the all-new ST versions of the Focus and Focus Wagon to the world. The pair exchanged the 250 hp 2.0 Ecoboost of the previous generation Focus ST for a 280 hp and 420 Nm strong version of the 2.3 Ecoboost that is not only in the previous Focus RS, but currently also in the Mustang. A Focus RS, which is expected to become about 380 hp, is not yet available. The English tuner Mountune jumps into the RS-hole by adding an extra heavy variant of the Focus ST to its delivery range.
If you own a Focus ST of the current generation, you can knock on Mountune for the M330 package, a collection of technical adjustments that boosts the power of the 2.3 Ecoboost four-cylinder with 50 hp and 95 Nm. The total power thus comes to 330 hp and 515 Nm of torque. After the Mountune treatment, the Focus will have a functionality with which you can adjust the engine management system via an application installed on your smartphone. For example, the character of the Focus can be adapted to your own taste in certain sizes. Mountune also adjusts the air filter of the Focus ST and switches driving mode ‘Slippery’ for a ‘Quiet Sport’ mode, a sport mode in which the exhaust system does not get its loudest throat. Also interesting: Mountune has adjusted everything so that you do not get your foot off the accelerator while shifting. The tuner does not mention how fast Mountune’s 330 hp Focus ST is. The standard version – in combination with manual gearbox – is able to shoot at a speed of 100 km / h in about 6 seconds. You can count on Mountune’s sprint version to take at least some rapper.
