Ford makes Mustang electric drag racer

That the Ford Mustang is no longer a pure petrol-consuming muscle car has already been proven by Ford with the all-electric Mustang Lithium. Now the Americans go a little further, because this electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 must scare all competition on the drag strip.

This year Ford is launching its first truly major EV player with the Mustang name on it: the Mustang Mach-E. The Michigan manufacturer is therefore not afraid to link a traditionally not environmentally friendly name to new mobility. This is also the case with this Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, a 1,400 hp strong electrical monster with a tight 1,500 Nm of (immediately available) torque.

Apart from the carriage, this has very little to do with a regular Mustang. You can see that in the huge drag racing tires, the tilt of the car and the wheelie bar at the rear. This is a car that is purely made for very fast sprints in a straight line. According to Ford, the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 devours the quarter-mile in just over eight seconds. In practice, this means approximately that the car is at 100 km / h in less than two seconds and is already driving more than 200 km / h in about 2.5 seconds after that.

Ford says it is currently busy testing with the car and promises that the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 will be able to get its gram in the battle with direct competitors on the drag strip at the end of this year. In any case, it looks promising (see video below):
