Ford Ranger Raptor even stronger thanks to Hennessey

The Ford Ranger Raptor is an unsubtle pick-up in itself and that is certainly the case on the other side of the large puddle. Hennessey has now taken it up a notch.

With some jealousy we watch the American Ford Ranger Raptor here from the Netherlands. It is stronger than the version that is in the Dutch showrooms. There the 3.0 biturbo V6 delivers 410 hp and 538 Nm, where we ‘have to settle’ for 292 hp and 491 Nm here. Still no shame, but just 118 hp less. It is a double celebration in the US, because the local Hennessey tuners also found 410 hp not enough for the Ford Ranger Raptor.

Hennessey Performance presents the Velociraptor 500 dipped upgraded Ford Ranger Raptor which, as the name implies, is 500 bhp strong. That translates to no less than 507 ‘European’ horsepower. The maximum torque now comes out at an asphalt-crushing 746 Nm. Interesting detail: as a Hennessey Velociraptor 500, the Ford Ranger Raptor is stronger than the factory F-150 Raptor. The power increase is partly due to a new air intake system, a larger intercooler and rewritten engine management.

There is also external decoration. For example, the Ford Ranger Raptor that has been transformed into a Velociraptor has a different front bumper with integrated bull bar and LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels with 35-inch all-terrain tires and of course the necessary Velociraptor stickers. The whole party costs (in the US) about €23,000. Mind you, that doesn’t include the base Ford Ranger Raptor.
