Up to 110 kilometers electrically

To the layman, Ford’s Transit and Tourneo family is almost unfathomable. Today we highlight a new addition to the range: the Ford Transit Connect. It is a plug-in hybrid commercial vehicle that is a sister model of the Volkswagen Caddy.
Ford and Volkswagen found each other some time ago. In the late 1980s, Volkswagen and Ford founded the AutoLatina partnership. Many models were exchanged in a special way on the South American market. In 2024, the collaboration between Volkswagen and Ford may be closer than ever. For example, the Volkswagen Amarok is a sister model of the Ford Ranger and the new Volkswagen Transporter is a brother of the Ford Transit Custom. And the new electric Ford Explorer? It shares its MEB basis with various models from the Volkswagen Group. The Volkswagen Caddy was also seized by Ford. The brand transformed the passenger car version of the Caddy into the Tourneo Connect. Now the Tourneo Connect also has an order version. It is of course called Ford Transit Connect.
The Ford Transit Connect is the order version of the Tourneo Connect. It will be available with 102 hp and 122 hp 2.0 diesels, which are linked to a six-speed manual transmission or – in the case of the strongest variant – a seven-speed automatic transmission (DSG). Perhaps more interesting is the electrified version. The Ford Transit Connect also gets a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It has a 1.5 EcoBoost petrol engine that, together with an electric motor, produces a system power of 150 hp and 350 Nm and is linked to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It can drive 110 kilometers on electric power alone, can fast charge with a maximum of 50 kW and can tow 1,400 kilos. The maximum payload of the plug-in is 770 kilos.
The Transit Connect will be available in two lengths and has a loading volume of 3.1 or 3.7 cubic meters. The diesel engine versions have a maximum payload of 820 kilos and can tow up to 1,500 kilos. Ford’s latest orderer will be available as a Trend – aimed at fleet managers – and as a more spacious Limited. You can order from the spring, the first copies will come to the Netherlands in the summer.
