Several new Macs are coming in 2026. But some models are surprisingly skipped. According to various rumors, these Macs will almost certainly not get an upgrade in 2026.
Radio silence on the iMac
Things have been pretty quiet around the iMac lately. One of the latest rumors was that an iMac with a larger screen would be released, but that was a while ago. So it seems that Apple is not planning a new iMac for the time being.
The most recent iMac is from 2024. Apple had also made very few changes to the iMac 2024.
In addition to minor upgrades, a variant with nanotexture was new at the time. That gave the screen a matte finish. The latest iMac is available in seven striking colors: green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue and silver.
Mac Pro loses out
According to usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, you almost certainly don’t have to expect a new Mac Pro in 2026. In his newsletter, he said that Apple has “largely written off” the Mac Pro. According to him, there is a feeling within the company that the Mac Studio has taken the place of Apple’s professional desktop computer.
The Mac Pro was last updated in 2023. Then the version with an M2 Ultra chip on board appeared. With the upgrade, Apple finally said goodbye to the Macs with Intel chips. The Mac Pro is striking because of its design. According to several users, it looks a bit like an upright cheese grater.
