Format mail in Word

formatted-text-to-mail-thumb A nicely formatted email reads more pleasantly than just plain text. Write a text in Word and copy it to your e-mail, preserving the layout.

The formatting options are limited in most mail programs. There is nothing wrong with a simple email, but a nice layout can make a big difference in readability. A simple solution is: use the formatting options in Microsoft Word. Write your text there, edit it as desired and copy the text document with complete layout to your email.

We start with a formatted text in Word.

  • Open Word.
  • Open your mail in another screen.
  • Select the text in Word with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A.
  • Copy the text with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C.
  • Go to your mail program.
  • Create a new email.
  • Click anywhere in the new message.
  • Paste the formatted text with Ctrl + V.

The formatted text is now in the e-mail. Adjust the text if necessary and send the email as usual.

Not quite proficient with keyboard shortcuts yet? You can also copy and paste in the usual way. Start with the formatted text in Word in one screen, and your mail program in another screen.

  • Select the text in Word by clicking at the beginning of the text. Hold the mouse and move the mouse pointer to the end of the text. Then let go.
  • Right click on the selected text.
  • click on To copy.
  • Go to your mail program.
  • Create a new email.
  • Right-click anywhere in the new message.
  • click on To stick.

The formatted text is now in the e-mail. Adjust the text if necessary and send the email as usual.
