Formula 1 calendar extended with three races

This season’s Formula 1 calendar has been further expanded. Three races will be added in October, one of which will take place at a location that is new to F1.

Formula 1 had not planned anything to date after the Russian Grand Prix at the end of September. But now it is. In the weekend of 9 to 11 October, the royal class of motorsport travels to the Nürburgring. There is driven on the GP circuit, as it already happened until 2013. The GP there is called the ‘Grand Prix of the Eifel’.

The Portuguese Grand Prix takes place two weeks later (from 23 to 25 October). This happens at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimao. A Formula 1 GP has never been held on that track before. The circuit dates from 2008 and has had official FIA approval for years, which is why a GP can be organized there.

A week later, Formula 1 goes to Italy for the third time this year. After Monza and Mugello, Imola (Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari) has also secured a place on the calendar. The track where the last Formula 1 GP was held in 2006 takes place for two days. October 31 and November 1. That GP is called the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna.
