Good news for Formula 1 crack nose Zhou Guanyou. The brand new driver performs to the satisfaction of Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen and may stay for at least another year.
In November 2021, 23-year-old Zhou Guanyu signed a contract with Alfa Romeo for the Formula 1 season of 2022. Guanyu pushed Antonio Giovinazzi out of his seat and became Valtteri Bottas’ new teammate. Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen – as the Alfa Romeo racing team is called in full – says it wants to start the adventure with Guanyu in 2023.
According to Alfa Romeo, Guanyu has shown a level of maturity and skill that is not appropriate for his age. Also, the first Chinese driver to show his driving skills full-time in Formula 1 could get on well with Bottas. Alfa Romeo is currently sixth in the constructors’ championship. Zhou is in 17th place with 6 points at the time of writing, a step below Tsunoda (11 points) and Stroll (5 points).
