The Apple Watch already has a flashlight app, but this may change in the future. But is that new flashlight also better?
Future Apple Watch may get a special flashlight
If you have an Apple Watch, you already know that it comes with a flashlight app as standard. You can find this by pressing the side button on the right and tapping the flashlight icon. The screen of the smartwatch then turns completely white (or red) and you can use it as a kind of flashlight.
According to a new patent, Apple is now looking to change the flashlight on the Apple Watch. The new patent is called ‘Modular Light Assambly For A Wearable Device’. This light is then located on the strap of the Apple Watch, near the housing of the smartwatch.
Apple also explains what the benefit is. This flashlight has its own battery. As a result, the use of this flashlight does not affect the battery of the Apple Watch itself.
The question remains whether Apple will actually implement this idea. To us, it seems very inconvenient to have a separate flashlight on the strap of the Apple Watch. And so often you don’t need the function and then the standard flashlight app suffices just fine. Still, it remains interesting to see which patents Apple secures.
