Gasoline prices are rising fast: €2.26 per litre

The average national suggested retail price (GLA) of a liter of petrol has risen by no less than €0.135 per liter in a month. This is evident from figures from consumer collective United Consumers.

You have undoubtedly noticed that fuel prices are rising considerably. According to UnitedConsumers, the Average National Recommended Price (GLA) of a liter of Euro 95 (E10) is currently no less than €2,259 per litre. For comparison: on August 1, the GLA liter price was €2,124 per liter. This means that the GLA of a liter of Euro 95 is now €0.135 higher than a month ago.

The GLA of a liter of diesel is now €1,997 per litre. It was still €1,897 per liter a month ago. This means that the increase amounts to €0.10 per litre. Mind you, it is very possible that you will find local gas stations where you pay less than the liter prices mentioned in this article. The GLA often only applies to main points along the highway. Outside of that you can often refuel for considerably less, although it is of course never really cheap.

Oil prices are currently rising sharply after news that countries of the oil cartel OPEC+, in particular Russia and Saudi Arabia, want to continue limiting production for longer. Petrol may become an additional €0.21 per liter more expensive from 2024. Not only will an earlier excise cut be reversed, excise will also rise – if the government does not intervene – in line with inflation.
