German police choose Hyundai Nexo

The police force in Osnabrück, Germany, has made its entire fleet very sustainable. One police car is the most striking of the group, because the Germans put a flashing light on the Hyundai Nexo.

It is the first time that the German police have switched to Hyundai’s fuel cell SUV. A daring step, because given the limited refueling options, it takes some calculations to patrol the Nexo. For the time being, there is one petrol station in the west of the city where hydrogen is offered. Seen from the center it is a short 10 kilometer drive to the H2 filling station. This station is one of the 116 service stations with hydrogen rich in Germany. At the moment 17 more are under construction and another 44 are on the close schedule of provider H2 Mobility Deutschland GmbH. On a full tank, the Nexo should be able to travel 666 kilometers.

The otherwise standard Nexo is in the typical blue-silver police jacket and is, like any police car, also equipped with flashing lights with a siren and countless means of communication. In addition to the Nexo, the Osnabrück police stock up twenty electric cars, twelve electric bicycles, three electric motors and an electric quad.
