Get a grip on the business with Suzuki AllGrip

Suzuki is mentioned in the same breath with concepts such as reliable, economical, compact and well thought-out. But did you know that Suzuki has been around for 100 years and has been building four-wheel drive cars for 50 years? Today, Suzuki has the smart system AllGrip, which is available for almost all current models, in three variants. Whichever one you choose, you have total control even under the most extreme conditions.

Perhaps when you think of four-wheel drive, you initially think of a large, heavy off-road vehicle and not directly of a compact passenger car. The first 4WD Suzuki was indeed an off-road vehicle, but not a heavy one. In 1970, the light and agile LJ10 laid the foundation for Suzuki’s rock-solid reputation for affordable and highly capable off-road vehicles. Suzuki continuously developed and refined the four-wheel drive system and has summarized this under the name AllGrip. We give a brief explanation of the three variants and of the new E-FOUR system.

AllGrip Auto

AllGrip Auto is available on the Suzuki Ignis and the Suzuki Swift. This system automatically sends the power from the engine to the rear wheels as soon as the driven front wheels lose their grip. This is safe and useful when driving on slippery road surfaces or snowy surfaces.

AllGrip Select

With AllGrip Select you as a driver have more choice in drive form. Available on the Suzuki Vitara and Suzuki S-Cross, it has four different driving modes: Auto – in this mode, the system automatically shifts to four-wheel drive if the car is about to lose traction. Sport – for a more sporty driving style. The four-wheel drive system distributes the power ideally for more grip. Snow – for optimal grip in the snow or on unpaved slippery roads. Lock – in case the car is stuck in the mud or snow. This gives all wheels the same amount of drive and the car gets going again effortlessly.

AllGrip Pro

The system for the real off-road riders among us: AllGrip Pro, which is available on the tough Suzuki Jimny. This is a system that allows you to decide whether you want to switch from 2WD to permanent 4WD. This can be done with a separate lever, up to a speed of 100 km / h. In addition, the AllGrip Pro system also has a so-called ‘low gearing’, which changes the ratio of the gearbox and the car is able to get out of the most difficult situations and climb the steepest slopes.

New: the E-FOUR electronic 4X4 system

Suzuki recently added a new form of four-wheel drive: the E-Four electronic 4×4 system. This provides drivers with true 4×4 performance while maintaining very good fuel economy. An independent electric motor (40 kW / 55 hp) drives the rear wheels. In conjunction with the front engine, the torque distribution between front and rear can be controlled from 100:00 to 20:80. Advantages of this system include improved stability when starting on slippery surfaces, such as snowy roads, and safe handling when cornering on different road surfaces.

With more than 50 years of experience in the field of four-wheel drive, Suzuki can count itself as one of the real experts in this field. Curious about all the benefits of AllGrip and the models on which it is available?
