Get started with Microsoft’s new browser Edge

Windows 7 is not the only thing that Microsoft is sending out of retirement this week, even web browser, Edge, must make do. Starting today, every Windows 10 user can get started with the new Chromium-based Edge.

The new browser is installed via Windows Update and automatically “overwrites” the old version of Edge. If you prefer to use the old version of Edge, if you use Windows 10 Pro or Enterprise, you can enable it again via the Group Policy Editor. Both versions can then be used side by side.

Microsoft hopes with ‘Edgium’ to attract more users to the browser. Microsoft has had to surrender quite a bit of market share in recent years on both Internet Explorer and Edge. Basing the new Edge on Chromium should make it easier for users to switch without encountering compatibility issues.
