Do you have a video on your iPhone, but do you actually want to get a photo out of it? We show you the easiest way to do this.
Get the photo out of your video on your iPhone: This is how you do it
Sometimes after making a video you will find out that you would rather also have wanted to take a photo. Or you have found a video with a nice scene that you actually want a picture of. Often you can still take a photo afterwards. We show how you do that.

Screenshot making a video
The easiest way is to make a screenshot off the screen. Keep in mind that everything you see on the iPhone screen can also be seen on your screenshot. Therefore, play the video and tap the screen so that things like the play and pause button can no longer be seen.
On iPhones with Face ID you make a screenshot in the following way.
- Open the video from which you want to take a photo;
- Press the side button (right) and volume up (left) briefly at the same time;
- The screen flashes and the screenshot is made.
Do you have an older iPhone without Face ID? Then read the article about making screenshots on the iPhone.
Get the photo from video with an app
You can also use an app to make a screenshot. The Frame Grabber app works well and clearly and you can make a number of screenshots for free. But you are soon asked to pay. Another app that is free (with advertising and a somewhat old -fashioned appearance) is the Videostill app.
Create screenshot is not always possible
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work to take a photo like that. For example, with films and series on Netflix it is possible to make a screenshot while playing, but you will only see a black screen (with the subtitles).
