In Gmail it is possible to give other users access to your account. This is useful when an email address is used by several people. They can then read, send and delete mail under your name. There are of course some conditions and restrictions.
Conditions
Do you manage a secretariat with a few people, or do you use the same e-mail address within the family or for a joint project for another reason? You can indeed share the same account with others, provided that they also have a Google account. In addition, the person receiving the power of attorney cannot change any settings of your Gmail account. Third, you can give such a power of attorney to a maximum of ten people. Also, delegates can never chat with people on your behalf. To grant another user access, use the gear and from there go to View all settings so you get to the tab Accounts and imports can. Behind the option Grant access to your account click on the option Add another account.
Permission
A pop-up will open in which you enter the email address of the person you want to grant access. So this must be a Gmail account. Then click on Next step. After this, there will be a confirmation and Gmail will ask if it can send an email to the email address you entered. The other person in turn must accept this before he or she can access your mailbox. That email contains two different links that allow the recipient to accept or decline this authorization. When the authorization has been accepted, it can take up to half an hour for the verification to be completed.
Switch
Then first log out of Gmail and log in again. A key and the word appears Authorized next to the principal’s account. Clicking on this will bring the proxy into a window to manage the mails from this shared account. After that, it is easy to switch between the different Gmail accounts. As an owner, you can revoke the authorization at any time. To do this, go to the settings to select the username of the other person and then click on remove.
