Spotify has a smart new feature (and you have to enable it)

Spotify has added a smart new feature to the application, which you should enable immediately. Here you will find the handy setting!

New Spotify feature

Another new feature is available in Spotify! The music service has rolled out an update that adds a smart setting to your playlists. With ‘Smart Reorder’, songs in a playlist flow together even better. Spotify previously introduced ‘Mixing’, which ensures that the end and beginning of songs flow together more smoothly. This works even better in the new version of Spotify.

Setting a transition between two songs has been possible in Spotify for some time. How smoothly this transition goes depends on the rhythms and keys of the songs. For example, two songs with a similar tempo fit together better than two songs with varying tempos. Spotify has therefore added a clever new feature that reorders your playlists based on the different rhythms that songs have.

Set smart reorder

Do you want the songs in Spotify to flow together as best as possible? In that case, it is advisable to set ‘Smart Reorder’. With this smart feature, Spotify changes the order of your playlist. Songs with similar rhythms and similar keys are placed together so that the transition between these songs is smoother. You can find the new feature as follows:

  1. Open the Spotify app;

  2. Go to ‘Library’ and select one of your playlists;

  3. Tap ‘Mix’ for this playlist;

  4. Then choose ‘Edit’;

  5. Tap ‘Smart New Order’;

  6. Finally, select ‘Continue > Save’.

Don’t see the smart Spotify function? In that case, check whether you have created the playlist yourself. ‘Smart new order’ only works for your own playlists, you cannot adjust the order of other users’ playlists. Does the option not appear on your own playlist? Then make sure you have ‘Mixing’ enabled, as that is a requirement for setting up the smart new order in Spotify.

Be careful if you use the smart Spotify function, because it permanently adjusts the order of your playlist. Did you tap ‘Save’? In that case, the new order of the playlist will be saved and you will lose the original order. You can then adjust these manually again, but it is not possible to restore the previous order. Therefore, if necessary, take a screenshot to remember the original organization of your playlist.

More about Spotify

The smart Spotify function organizes songs based on rhythm and pitch, so that the end and beginning of the music fit together better. This way you prevent the transition to the next song from sounding strange due to tempos that differ too much from each other. Have you enabled Mixing on your playlists? Then we recommend activating ‘Smart new order’, because songs will then flow together much better.

Spotify has now added the smart function to the application, allowing users to get started with the new setting. Unfortunately, this does not apply to everyone, because the option is only available in the paid version of Spotify. Do you have Spotify Premium? Then immediately enable ‘Smart new order’ so that your favorite songs sound even better. Would you like to know more about Spotify?
