Good news: iOS 16 is ready (but you’ll have to wait for iPadOS)

Mark Gurman has said that Apple is ready to launch the new operating systems. iOS 16 will be released in September, but you’ll have to wait a little longer for iPadOS.

“iOS 16 is finished, iPadOS not yet”

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple’s software developers have finished work on iOS 16. While you’ll soon be able to install iOS 16 on your iPhone, Gurman says you’ll need to be patient for iPadOS 16 a little longer.

Betas pave way for new software release

The release of iOS 16 is slowly but surely getting closer. While Apple still regularly releases new beta versions (such as iOS 16 beta 6) Gurman says Apple is finalizing iOS. This just a few weeks before the September 7 event.

Mark Gurman wrote in his Power On Newsletter that the iOS 16 update will be launched in early September. This is happening together with watchOS 9 and the Apple Watch Series 8. According to him, macOS Ventura and iPadOS 16 are only planned for October and only iOS 16 will be launched in September. The reason for the delay? The issues surrounding Stage Manager.

iOS 16 disappeared function lock

What are we all seeing new with iOS 16?

With iOS 16 (and iPadOS 16) you will soon get many new functions. Think of a new lockscreen with more options, the new options for the Messages app and the Mail app.

Live Activities in iOS 16.1

Gurman also talked about a feature that you won’t see on your iPhone until iOS 16.1. This feature is called ‘Live Activities’ and it is a feature that will be added to your lockscreen.

With Live Activities you get to see the current data of an app. This allows you to see live information that you consider most important at a glance. Think, for example, of what time the home delivery person is at your doorstep or the interim score of an important football match.
