There are many users who currently have problems with the Google Assistant in combination with the control of smart home devices. Voice commands that used to work fine on, for example, the Philips Hue lamps, are now not performed properly or not at all by Google’s smart helper. What is going on?
Google Assistant no longer turns on the lights
The Google Assistant suffers from cures. Many users complain about error messages when controlling smart home devices. This is how we see in the Google Nest Community multiple complaints to Google’s address. In the editors, we get these answers from the Google Assistant when we ask her to turn on the lights.
- “Sorry I do not understand”
- “Sorry, something went wrong”
- “Sorry, something went wrong, but you can try again later”
- “Sorry, an error has occurred and I cannot control your smart home device.”
Editor Sebastien’s lamps do not turn on, and the undersigned does, but an error message still follows from the mouth of the Google Assistant: “Sorry, an error has occurred and I cannot operate your smart home device.” Foreign media also suffer from this bug and said are experiencing issues with Philips Hue lights, and getting the Eufy camera feed on some devices. For the time being, it seems that it is about smart lighting and cameras where the Google Assistant sometimes refuses to work.
Another strange bug
After the error message, the Google Assistant also gives alternative voice commands on smart displays, which generate the same error message. Some users indicate that Routines don’t work anymore† This may have to do with the Google Assistant system or perhaps also with a Cloud issue. Unfortunately we don’t know and hope Google will come up with a solution soon, because now we have to walk to the light switch and that is just about unbearable.
Let us know in the comments if you’re also experiencing issues with the Google Assistant and your smarthome devices. We are curious how many people are affected by it.
