These overviews appear above the traditional search results and provide a summary of information from different sources. For this, Google uses artificial intelligence, with which the overviews are compiled.
Google has now rolled out the AI ​​overviews for the first users in the Netherlands. With the AI-generated answers, Google tries to answer your question in one go, so that you no longer have to search further. That is not entirely trouble -free, because wrong information is regularly shown in the summaries. For example, artificial intelligence takes information from satirical websites or non-existent proverbs are shared.
This is how you switch off Google AI
The AI ​​overviews regularly generate wrong answers, with the danger that misinformation will be distributed via Google. Do you prefer to switch off the summaries? Then we have bad news, because Google does not give it an option to turn off the overviews. You can, however, adjust the web link on your iPhone, iPad or Mac (book), so that the AI ​​overviews are hidden. You do that as follows:
- Open ‘safari’ on your iPhone, iPad or Mac (book);
- Tap the search bar;
- Type https://www.google.com/search?q=%&udm=14 In and press Enter;
- Remove the percent sign (%) and finally enter your search at Google.
Adding ‘& UDM = 14’ to the URL of your search has several advantages. With this code, the search results of Google are simplified, so you no longer see AI overviews. Instead, Google shows relevant websites, which may give the answer to your question. This is an easy way to hide artificial intelligence in Google.
In Safari it is less easy to adjust the URL in Google, because the web link does not appear in the address bar. Do you no longer want to see AI overviews in Safari? Then use the link above and enter your search. Another possibility is to search in Google and to tap the results on ‘Web’. The AI ​​overviews are then shown hidden and only relevant websites.

Do you work in Google Chrome? In that case it is also possible to add an extension that eliminates the AI ​​overviews.
