Google’s Pixel 6 series gets a major upgrade when it comes to fast charging. The devices support a charger with a higher power of 33 watts, compared to the 18 watts that the Pixel 5. Only that charger with the phones does not come in the box.
Google Pixel 6 and fast charging
Google has been releasing information about the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro for some time now, its upcoming top devices. We’ve already been given information about the periscope camera and the proprietary Tensor chipset that Google uses in the phone, but this time reliable information has leaked without coming from one of Google’s teasers.
Google will soon propose improved performance with charging. XDA Developers discovered that the phone is certified in Taiwan, and that gives us some information about the charging capabilities of the Pixel 6 series. The devices can fast charge with a voltage of 11 volts and a current of 3 amps. If you then do the math, you know that the charging power is 33 watts.
Fast charging performance like that allows the phone to charge more efficiently than Samsung’s Galaxy S21 Ultra, and it’s certainly a big step up from the 18-watt fast charger that phones have had since the Pixel 3. That is Google’s flagship from 2018. Still, the phone lags a bit behind compared to some other top devices such as the OnePlus 9 series and the Find X3 series from OPPO, each of which has a 65-watt fast charger. Also know that the Pixel 6 smartphones don’t get a charger in the box, that was already known before.

Now that the specifications for fast charging are known, you will probably also want to know how big the battery is. According to previously leaked information – info that Google has not confirmed – the Pixel 6 Pro comes with a 5,000 mAh battery and the smaller Pixel 6 has a 4614 mAh battery. We will probably have to wait until October 19, before we see the total picture, because then Google will introduce its flagships.
